New Rye Rye - Bang (feat. M.I.A.)

Rye Rye has put a new track up on her myspace featuring M.I.A., in what could be her first track since giving birth. “Bang” is exactly what you’d expect from Baltimore babe Rye Rye- a little electro layered with her raps. Rye Rye’s newest tracks seem to be showing off a little more percussion based than other tracks like “Shake It To The Ground”. “Wassup” and now “Bang” seem to give that impression.

In other style changes, Rye Rye’s myspace really have changed their look to resemble M.I.A.’s artwork- a fusion between Kala and Arular’s coverworks. I told you she’s a little too much like M.I.A… I’m willing to look past that fact if she continues putting out tracks as awesome as this.

M.I.A. Rereleases Kala with new tracks

Oh they’re good. You’ve probably heard of them or at least heard samples, but here’s the full tracks. No real way to describe both of them equally. The Shells that is posted here is the final US release. It’s a little different than what’s already on the blogosphere. Enjoy!

Rye Rye & M.I.A. - Tic Toc
Mad Decent released a new track by Rye Rye and the “retired” M.I.A. It’s a downtempo track. I like it, it’s chill. The background music sounds like the took a sample from a Yelle song or something. It just sounds like her voice. I don’t know.

M.I.A. is real fickle. Does anyone remember after she released Arular when she was like “I’ve pretty much have said all I needed to said so I don’t know if I’ll be making an album”. that’s obviously not a direct quote.

I’m pretty sure we can hear a lot more from Rye Rye (if not M.I.A.) in the future. Paul Devro of Mad Decent thinks so – “Keep your eye out, expect big things from Rye-Rye coming up!!!”

Santogold and Diplo - Top Ranking // I have yet to meet someone that doesn’t like Santogold. She’s really one of the few perfect musicians out there. M.I.A. of course is a legend. And Diplo, well he runs Mad Decent. Enough said. So when I heard about collaborations between Santi White and Diplo, and then a collab with Santogold and M.I.A., I was amazed.

Basically Santogold and Diplo put together a huge mix called “Top Ranking” which is for sale. A few tracks have been released off it, and of course they are awesome

Santogold - Starstruck (Diplo Remix) We’ve heard this one before on Diplo’s myspace. It’s a good one. Starstruck certainly isn’t my favorite track off her debut album, but it is a worthwhile track and the remix is even better.

Santogold & Diplo - Guns of Brooklyn (doc and jon hill dub) This one. This is the best track I got. It’s just awesome. Real chill, downtempo track, but it still has a good beat. highly recommended.

Santogold, M.I.A., and Gorilla Zoe - Get It Up (Radioclit Remix) This one I don’t understand. First of all, who the hell is Gorilla Zoe? Second, where is the original Get It Up? How can there be remix if there has been no original to hit the blogosphere. Finally, why does this track just end randomly? There’s just too many questions. I’m assuming that this too is off Top Ranking. I don’t know. It’s like a tribal, hip-hop track. Sounds more like a Diplo song rather than these 3 girls. however, if it is off Top Ranking that would make sense. It is Diplo’s mix after all.

Edit Ok now I understand. Radioclit did a track with Santogold and M.I.A. last year. However this version and the version that is on Radioclit’s myspace is the version from Top Ranking. That means that this track is remixed, presumably by Diplo, and includes Gorilla Zoe too. So basically, exactly what “Da Info” said.

I’m rambling. Sorry I don’t post more. Tomorrow I’ll post some Leif because he’s constantly on repeat here.

Rye Rye - Wassup Wassup (Crookers Remix) // The more I listen to Rye Rye the more I like her sound. I only really have myspace rips, or at least I didn’t until i stumbled upon the Crookers remix of “Wassup Wassup” that I have been looking for forever. I heard this classic Rye Rye track in a set Crookers did for KISS FM. The remix doesn’t sound exactly the same as it did in that mix, but it’s still siiiick. Crookers makes awesome, bouncy remixes.

I hope you guys have checked out Rye Rye’s myspace page at some point. I’m in love with the “Gangsta Girl” track. I’m too lazy to rip it off her myspace. Can’t someone just blog about it so I can have an excuse to have it?

Sometimes I wonder if Rye Rye likes M.I.A. too much. Recently I haven’t noticed it, but in the remix of “Paper Planes” with Rye Rye and Afrikan Boy, I think she says something about how much she loves her.

I think Rye Rye can get away with liking M.I.A. as much as she does. She has her own sound and style. It’d be a whole ‘nother story if she sounded exactly like M.I.A. and she worshipped her. It’d be like Mini-M.I.A.
It’s probably really hard to sound exactly like M.I.A. Her sound changes so often and it’s always so unique. I respect that. There’s no duplicators.

You guys should be able to compare the original “Wassup Wassup” to the remix. It’s shitty quality and kind of obnoxious of me to post because it’s a myspace rip, but here it is. I might take it down after a week or so if I remember.
