Major Lazer - Keep It Goin’ Louder
Holy shit, this is going to be everywhere this summer. This is the kind of song that makes people millionaires. Or in the case of this music economy thousandaires! I find the drops super funny on this track. At the end the guy is all “PLUG YOUR SHIT UP OR IT’S GOING TO GET LEAKED!!” as if he’s relieving himself of any responsibility. Like it’s the artist’s fault their album leaked.
So much auto-tune my head just exploded, awesomeness.

[MUSIC VIDEO] Major Lazer - Hold The Line
Ok so maybe one more Mad Decent post… The Major Lazer single “Hold The Line” now has a video in a classic 90s style cartoon. The video follows the duo’s Jamaican, zombie-fighting icon, Major Lazer, as he beats up thugs, zombies, and vampires. Okay video, awesome song.

Dead Prez - Hip Hop (Diplo Remix)
It seems like almost everything I post here is somehow involved with Diplo and/or Mad Decent. This is no exception. The whole intro is an awesome crescendo that builds up with some percussion. Simple remix, no big explosions. It’s not as fun as regular Diplo mixes either. Still good though.

Major Lazer - Hold The Line (Ghislain Poirier Remix)
I’m just on a Major Lazer/Mad Decent kick right now. RCRD LBL has graciously posted a remix from the Canadian hiphop master Ghislain Poirier. Featuring even crazier percussion and horns, Poirier has added to the list of great remixes of “Hold The Line”

Major Lazer - Hold The Line
I have to admit- I love the idea of Major Lazer. The collaboration between my favorite DJs (Diplo and Switch) have created this amazing track. “Hold The Line” is the first release from Major Lazer. The track, planned to be released on the album “Gunz Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do”, features Santigold and Mr. Lexx
Mad Decent blog says that dub’s done by Andy Milonakis. Maybe a joke, but Milonakis has got his own releases on the Mad Decent label.

ADDED BONUS: DVW REMIXXX!
I just managed to stumble upon this remix and it’s just as great as the original. DVW uses a more electronic base with oscillating hums.

La Roux - Quicksand (Mad Decent Remix)
La Roux’s loveably shril voice has been combined with the DJing expertise and power of Mad Decent. The new remix features a funky baseline and a disco synth. I expect more of rap and percussion-filled remix from Mad Decent, but only because I automatically think of Diplo. Even without the dirty, fun, and beat-based style from Mad Decent’s headman, the Mad Decent remix of La Roux’s Quicksand will be added to my top played very soon.

A good mix, but if you notice “Busy Signal ft MIA and Rye Rye – ‘Tic Toc’ (Mia Remix) (Test)”. It doesn’t sound very remixed to me, but I’m not exactly comparing the two. The set as a whole was created by Switch, Diplo, and M.I.A. for BBC’s Radio 1 when the regular host went on vacation. I really like the track right after “Tic Toc”. I want it…

Oh and why the fuck is uffie on this set? She doesn’t even know it’s called “Mad Decent Radio”. Why doesn’t she go talk about sounding “like Twista, fast as hell”

Santogold and Diplo - Top Ranking // I have yet to meet someone that doesn’t like Santogold. She’s really one of the few perfect musicians out there. M.I.A. of course is a legend. And Diplo, well he runs Mad Decent. Enough said. So when I heard about collaborations between Santi White and Diplo, and then a collab with Santogold and M.I.A., I was amazed.
Basically Santogold and Diplo put together a huge mix called “Top Ranking” which is for sale. A few tracks have been released off it, and of course they are awesome
Santogold - Starstruck (Diplo Remix) We’ve heard this one before on Diplo’s myspace. It’s a good one. Starstruck certainly isn’t my favorite track off her debut album, but it is a worthwhile track and the remix is even better.
Santogold & Diplo - Guns of Brooklyn (doc and jon hill dub) This one. This is the best track I got. It’s just awesome. Real chill, downtempo track, but it still has a good beat. highly recommended.
Santogold, M.I.A., and Gorilla Zoe - Get It Up (Radioclit Remix) This one I don’t understand. First of all, who the hell is Gorilla Zoe? Second, where is the original Get It Up? How can there be remix if there has been no original to hit the blogosphere. Finally, why does this track just end randomly? There’s just too many questions. I’m assuming that this too is off Top Ranking. I don’t know. It’s like a tribal, hip-hop track. Sounds more like a Diplo song rather than these 3 girls. however, if it is off Top Ranking that would make sense. It is Diplo’s mix after all.
Pitchblack informed me…

However “da info” says….

So I don’t really know what that track is called right now.
Thanks. Corrections are always appreciated.
Edit Ok now I understand. Radioclit did a track with Santogold and M.I.A. last year. However this version and the version that is on Radioclit’s myspace is the version from Top Ranking. That means that this track is remixed, presumably by Diplo, and includes Gorilla Zoe too. So basically, exactly what “Da Info” said.
I’m rambling. Sorry I don’t post more. Tomorrow I’ll post some Leif because he’s constantly on repeat here.
Just for fun, here’s a little teaser for the next post. Spank Rock - B-O-O-T-A-Y (Feat. Santogold & Betty Black) (Leif Remix)

The Black Ghosts - Repetition (Diplo Remix) // I never listened to The Black Ghosts. I think it may be because someone told me they were a start-up band from Simian and I already knew about SMD so I didn’t bother. I mean, how much Simian do I really need?
Regardless, Diplo has chosen to remix their track “Repitition”. It’s not the typical Diplo remix. It’s not all about big drums and claps. In fact, it sounds a little bit like the Soulwax remix of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. It’s certainly not the classic Diplo remixes/tracks that sound all tropical-like. His style has changed.
I kind of miss the old Diplo. Actually, I really miss the old Diplo. Don’t get me wrong. I still like the remixes and songs “Betty” and “Young Folks Pussy”, but sometimes I’m just in the mood for some classic baile funk “Diplo Rhythm” off Florida.
I guess I can only dream of a day when Diplo will make more albums that everyone steals instead of buying.
It’s still a good track. There’s a bit of crescendo to the end of the song. It’s good. Like it’s full of anticipation. Not much else I can say. Can’t compare it to the original as I haven’t heard it. Duh. Take a listen.
And while you’re at it, someone tell me what the story behind The Black Ghosts is. Are they any good?
