Man Like Me really has a distinct sound. I recently came across his witty hit called “Oh My Gosh” and really liked it. Unfortunately, this track hasn’t yet made it to the Hype Machine. Even though my blog isn’t on the Hype Machine (because y’all don’t comment enough!), I decided I’d at least help him out by spreading the mp3 to the 10 people that read this blog.
I don’t really know how you would describe sound. It’s bubbly electronic music. It almost sounds like there’s an 8-bit background music. He’s basically rapping. It’s really a funny song, and even funnier when you watch the music video.
At first I thought he was another one of those masked DJs. Luckily we have more than enough of them and I found out he is actually the one of the right.
DJs need to realize that just because they hid their “true identity”, doesn’t mean they’re going to be as cool as Daft Punk.
Oh by the way, his Myspace (linked at the top of the post) is featuring a free download of Man Like Me’s new track “Carny”. Personally, the original Carny isn’t one of my favorite tracks… It doesn’t sound like “Oh My Gosh”. I was a bit disappointed. Kind of like when I found out not all of Sam Sparro’s songs sound like “S.A.M.S.P.A.R.R.O.”
