Thecocknbullkid - Clean Apart
I’m just finding out about this funky electro-pop singer, Thecocknbullkid (read: the cock and bull kid). With a sound like a fusion of Little Boots and Kate Nash, she has successfully captured my interest. Looking forward to hearing more from her, but here’s a sample track for anyone who hasn’t heard of her.

Animal Collective - Daily Routine (Phaseone Remix)
I’m usually not one for remixes of Animal Collective songs. Most producers fail at trying to create a dance track from their trippy sounds. That’s why this one took me by surprise. Phaseone doesn’t go overboard with the effects, doesn’t try to hard, and properly remixed Animal Collective’s “Daily Routine” . With more percussion and claps, and a breif hip-hop “yeah”, I have fallen in love with this remix.
Oh and I’m testing out some new default album artwork for when I don’t have any or I don’t feel like making it. Recently I’ve just been leaving it blank, but I decided to spruse it up a bit. Thoughts?

It’s been out for months now, but if you haven’t picked up a copy of March of the Zapotec/Holland EP, I suggest you do so immediately, if only to distinctly hear how truly spectacular “The Concubine” is.

Urban Outfitters LSTN #5
I’m beginning to think that these come out far too often. The tracks on this one are good, but uncomparable to LSTN #2. The playlist features the likes of Passion Pit, Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, Crystal Antlers, Au Revoir Simone, Major Lazer, Delta Spirit, and more.
I await the day Dr. Dog is featured on one of these. Maybe it will be on the next one that comes out… next month.

Emil and Friends - Downed Economy (Mr. Vega Remix)
I really only know Emil and Friends from their remix of Little Boots’ “New In Town” and I love that remix more than any of the dozens that are roaming the hype machine. Now that I’ve heard the original and the awesome remix by Mr. Vega, I will be looking more into the group.
Mr. Vega made an awesome remix full of quick, repeated, short synths and taseful vocal effects. Looking back at the Crystal Castles remix he made, I’m assuming he never disappoints.

Lykke Li - Knocked Up (Death to the Throne Remix; Kings of Leon Cover)
It was a nice surprise to hear from Death to the Throne again. After the remixes for “Pop Bottles” and “Shake It To The Ground”, it’s hard to imagine DttT (D3T?) making anything less than perfect. With that in mind, you should be hyped up for the latest remix of a cover by Death to the Throne.
There’s a certain amount of “danceability” that comes with a D3T remix. This one features less distorted synths and more percussion. Nothing disappoints though.
