Grizzly Bear - Cheerleader (Neon Indian Studio 6669 Remix)

One of my favorite break-out artists from 2009 has remixed my favorite song by another one of my favorite bands. And it’s great. Neon Indian’s Studio 6669 rendition of Grizzly Bear’s “Cheerleader” has the perfect fusion of the two styles.

Neon Indian actually created two remixes of this song. In my opinion, the other is inferior, but if you want to check it out you can find it on RCRDLBL.

Animal Collective - What Would I Want? Sky

The perfect addition to the Animal Collective discography.

The trippy, ever-changing group has released their newest works- Fall Be Kind EP. It’s the perfect transition from Merriweather Post Pavilion to what’s to come. This is the exact sound I want to here from Animal Collective- a working fusion between Feels and Merriweather Post Pavilion.

This track, in particular, is my favorite. With a 3 minute intro of heavy drums and sleepy atmosphere, it almost sounds like it’s from Sung Tongs. From there it explodes into the latest MPP style but manages to savor some of the classic flavor.

New Hot Chip grooves are good.
Hot Chip - Take It In
The new album One Life Stand comes out in February.

I’m anticipating this album to be really good. If the rest of it is like “Take It In” then I suppose it will be. It’s a little different stuff from the past. This song sounds like some sort of electronic ballad- something you know only Hot Chip could pull off.

The XX - Shelter (Death to the Throne Remix)

It’s funny how things turn out so perfectly sometimes. The XX has become my recent obsession in music. Their LP “xx” is perfect. So- how could it get any better? Well, Death to the Throne could remix it.

After a traumatic experience that would have roughed anyone up- not making the DJ Mag Top 100 list, even though DJ Tiesto did- DttT took on a new project. This remix was the result.

“i made this remix, which sounds like david guetta having sex with another david guetta, while being watched by a bunch of david guettas.”

Awesome.

Major Lazer -  Jump Up (Leif Jones Remix)

Leif, now under the alias Leif Jones (???), has gotten back into the groove with a remix of Major Lazer’s “Jump Up”. According to my brother (READ: RELIABLE NEWS SOURCE) Leif is completely renewing his style so he can “stop playing for white hipster kids”. It’s almost a shame, until you realize anything Leif Jones makes will be incredible. This remix included.

Daft Punk - Technologic (Death to the Throne Remix)

Somehow, DttT always manages to create something I love. The latest (and by latest, I mean this was sent out on September 1) project by the genius project is this highly enjoyable remix of the Daft Punk classic. The thing is, each Death to the Throne remix is different and has a completely different sound.

Yacht - Psychic City (Kosha Dillz Remix)

So this is a little late, but here it is. Not really a remix, but Kosha Dillz delivers a catchy rap over the classic song off Yacht’s “See Mysterious Lights” The Jewish rapper is touring with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so look out for him.

Who is Kosha Dillz ?
Former drug dealer/addict  ex convict turned drug counselor that kicks butt and saves lives on a daily basis, and on  his spare time  tours with Matisyahu and the Rza.
